WINTERPORT – Raymond D. Preston Sr., 76, passed away Sept. 18, 2008, surrounded by loved ones at a Brewer nursing facility. He was born Nov. 25, 1932, in Cape Elizabeth, to the late Alfred and Isabel (Dyer) Preston. Ray graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School, Class of 1949. He was a graduate of Northeast Business College and attended the University of Maine, Orono, after serving in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for New England Telephone/Verizon for 35 years, as well as Telephone Services of Southern Maine for 12 years before retiring. Ray loved and enjoyed his family, animals and the outdoors, especially spending time with his nephews, Frank and Alan Stuart at camp. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Glenda (Harriman) Preston; their five children, Deborah and husband, Ronald, Raymond Jr. and girlfriend, Jeannie, daughter-in-law, Patricia, Dennis and wife, Laura, Stephen, and Angela and husband, Mark; one sister, Barbara; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he greatly loved; as well as a special family friend, Jackie. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Alfred Jr. “Buddy” and Waldo; two sisters, Elsie and Lois; and grandson, Benjamin. In keeping with Ray’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport.
