BARBARA ‘NAN’ NORSWORTHY – PRESQUE ISLE – Barbara Marie (Rogers) Norsworthy, wife of the late Willard A. Norsworthy of Presque Isle, passed away Sept. 21, 2008, at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. Born Dec. 13, 1923, in Fort Fairfield, she was the daughter of Hugh G. and Beatrice Deyone Rogers. Christened “Nan” by her grandsons, Barbara became known by that nickname to family and friends alike. She started school in Fort Fairfield, but at an early age moved with her family to Canada, where she graduated from Perth Superior School in 1940. She was employed for several years at the former Day’s Jewelry Store, Presque Isle. She was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she had been a member of the choir, the E.C.W., St. John’s Altar Guild and had served as Altar Directress for seven years. Barbara was a life member of Lunar Chapter No. 126, Order of the Eastern Star of Presque Isle. Barbara enjoyed a wide circle of close friends, including those at bingo. She is survived by a daughter, Julianna and her husband, Robert Palmer; a son, Willard R. “Bill” and his wife, Remillie Norsworthy; two grandsons, Andrew Duprey and Daniel Duprey and his wife, Rebecca; Barbara’s two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Alexander Duprey, all of Presque Isle; a sister, Elizabeth and her husband, James Hudson, of Aroostook, New Brunswick; many very dear nieces and nephews in the extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant sister, Margaret; a brother, Richard “Dick” Rogers of Caribou; and a son-in-law, Richard P. Duprey of Presque Isle. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where Order of the Eastern Star services will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by officers and members of Lunar Chapter No. 126. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St John’s Episcopal Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
