WINSLOW – Hazel Agnes Haga, 85, passed away peacefully Sept. 17, 2008, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home, Scarborough. Hazel was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Blackville, New Brunswick, to William Stafford Duncan “Pop” and Maude Elizabeth Duncan “Mum.” Her family came to Howland when she was 2 and then later became a U.S. citizen. She was the sister of Mary “Mame” Chandler, Celia “Cel” Foster and William “Will” Duncan, who predeceased her. She was married to Otto Milton Haga, who predeceased her in 1992, after a marriage of 46 years. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan and special son-in-law, David MacDonald, of Sidney; and her two grandsons, Matthew David MacDonald and Adam Haga MacDonald, both of Portland. She loved her family very much and her grandsons were the highlight of her life. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held noon Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Augusta, in the old cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and family of Hazel reach out to anyone in need of help and support.
