JAMES ELOIN GUYTON GOULDSBORO – James Eloin Guyton, 79, died Sept. 21, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Harrod, Ohio, the son of Carl B. and Kittie (Heller) Guyton. Jim served in the U.S. Navy actively for 23 years, with an additional 10 years in the Navy Reserves, retiring in 1977 as lieutenant junior grade. He traveled extensively while in the service. He worked as a loan officer at a local bank for awhile, was a lobster fisherman for several years, served as selectman for the town of Gouldsboro, was owner/ operator of J&B Trap Co., and most recently was employed at Long Pond Water District, as district manager for almost 10 years. Jim, K1QCF, was an avid ham radio operator and technician. He loved his morning chat with the “boys” around the world. Jim was past master of Winter Harbor Lodge No. 192, AF & AM, past high priest of Acadia Chapter No. 31, past commander of Blanqufort Commandry No. 13, past thrice illustrious master of Bangor Council No. 5 and past R/E grand commander of Grand Commandry of Maine. He was a member of Scottish Rite, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Vermont Association of Knights Templar Commandries, Past Officers Association, Order of Eastern Star, Knights Templar/Cross & Crown, Red Cross of Constantine, Knights of the York Cross of Honour, Pine Cone Council No. 31 and Grand Royal Arch Chapter State of Maine. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Bernice E. Guyton; three sons, James Guyton II, John Guyton and wife, Kristine, and Carl B. Guyton; stepsons, Frank and Kieth Miller; stepdaughter, Julie Mosley and her husband, Steve; one granddaughter, Tynna Guyton and her significant other, Jason Hinckley; two stepgrandsons, Frank Miller Jr. and Nathan Mosley; one stepgranddaughter, Rachel MacKenzie and husband, Scott; one great-grandson, Dawson James Hinckley; one great-stepgrandson, Evan Scott MacKenzie; one sister, Mary Jane Zander; one aunt, Gladys Stump of Ohio; many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law, Ed Zander; and by a nephew, Larry Zander. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a Knights Templar service to be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday conducted by Dana Rice.
