JUSTINA J.B. MARQUIS – VAN BUREN – Justina J.B. “Tina” Marquis, 89, died Sept. 23, 2008, at a Caribou hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Van Buren, the daughter of John B. and Rose (Dionne) Pelletier. Tina was educated in local schools and was a 1936 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She was employed in her father’s law firm and also worked for SAD 24 as the district bookkeeper for many years. After her retirement, she was inducted into the SAD 24 Hall of Fame. Tina was a member of Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella. She had many interests which included watching the Red Sox and Tiger Woods, arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, shopping, baking, cooking and spending time at the family cottage at Long Lake. She is survived by two daughters, Rita Marquis of Van Buren, and Marge Levasseur and her husband, Jim, of Fort Kent; one son, Jim Marquis of Van Buren; one brother, Pat Pelletier of Van Buren; three granddaughters, Michelle Thibodeau and her husband, Adam, of Steep Falls, Robin Levasseur and Billie-Jo Levasseur, both of Fort Kent; one great-granddaughter, Addyson Thibodeau of Steep Falls; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest Marquis; and by her sisters, Martine Pelletier and Alphonsine Curtis. Tina’s family is very grateful to Simone Vaillancourt, Vanda Madore and Don Pelletier for their personal care and special attention during the past few years. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be at the parish cemetery.
