HAMPDEN – A. Lillian (Harju) Mayhew, 76, beloved ife of Frederick D. Mayhew, passed into the Lord’s keeping, Sept. 2, 2005. She was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Harrison, the daughter of Elmer and Fanny Harju. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and in her younger years, she worked as a housekeeper at various motels. She was forever working in her puzzle books and with a wicked sense of humor, Lillian loved a good joke. Lillian is survived by her twins, Paula Baptiste and Paul Mayhew of Orono; and her daughters, Beckie Morgan of Fredericksburg, Va. and Ronna Harju of Bremerton, Wash.; four grandchildren, Brent Wells of Sanford, Lisa Philbrick of Atlanta, Ga., Kayla Morgan and Holly Morgan, both of Fredericksburg, Va.; nine great-grandchildren; a very special friend and “daughter”, Nancy Brown; four siblings, Sally Goodwin of South Paris, Martha Auchterlonie of Florida, Viola Witham of Georgia and Oscar Harju of Michigan. In addition to her parents , she was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Wells and Susan Kay Mayhew; one brother, Arnie Harju; and two sisters, Irene Harju and Cecilia Watson. Family and friends may visit 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 6, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. with Rev. Dick Woehr officiating.
