KENDUSKEAG – Laura M. Martin, 85, the wife of the late Alton R. Martin, died Sept. 1, 2005, at a Bangor nursing home after a long illness. She was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Woburn, Mass., the daughter of Ira and Laura (Byron) Goding. She was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Kenduskeag Ladies Aid. She loved gardening and traveling with her daughters, especially to the coast. Surviving are a son, Robert of Kenduskeag; three daughters, Janice Smith and her husband, Bruce, of Kenduskeag, Mary Martin of Bangor and Carol Babin and her fianc?, Randy Cox, of Kenduskeag; a sister, Marion King of Hermon; two brothers, George Goding and his wife, Mary, of Rochester, Vt. and Ira Goding of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Shane, Jesse and Joseph Smith, Aurora Martin, Corey Hewey, Nikki Chatfield and her son, Nathaniel, and Sarah Haskell and her daughter, Lacey; and two other great-grandchildren, Lucia Smith and Thomas Hilton. Laura was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Vail and a brother, Albert Goding. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Rd., Corinth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., with Fr. Richard McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in the Kenduskeag Cemetery.
