Correction Notice HERMON – Ada M. Burke, 84, beloved wife of the late Albert Burke, passed away March 13, 2008, surrounded by her family at her home, after a short illness. She was born April 8, 1923, in Oakfield, daughter of David and Daisy (Anderson) Douglass. Ada served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a medical technician. She was a dedicated worker employed for many years in the hospitality industry, retiring from Best Western White House Motel. Ada was most devoted to her family and home. She had a great love of all animals and she especially loved feeding all of the little squirrels and birds in her yard. She is survived by her children; daughter, Lorna and her husband, Dale Robbins, of Hermon; son, Gary Burke and his wife, Cindy, of Hermon; her twins, Jolette Burke of Winterport and Jolene Mitchell of Bangor and her close friend, Patrick Fogarty of Old Town; her special brother, Dale Douglass and wife, Natalie, of Brunswick, and their children, Kim and Karen; grandchildren, Troy Wells and wife, Holly, Nichole Gregory and husband, Kevin, Casey Burke, Jeffrey Mitchell, Kaitlyn and Dakota El-Hajj and their father, Lonnie El-Hajj; four sisters-in-law, Patricia Douglass of Hermon, Joan Douglass of Bangor, Etta “Babe” Porter of Georgia and Frances Burke of Newburgh; a special uncle, Howard Brown of Levant; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ada also leaves behind her faithful cat, Abby. She will also be sadly missed by special friends, Brenda and Larry Wade; and lifelong friend, Pat Youhon. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Darrell Douglass; and her great-grandson, Dustin Wells. Ada’s family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospital and Brewer Rehab and Living Center, Northa, Valerie and the staff of New Hope Hospice and Dr. Gary Ross and staff. Friends are invited to visit with the family noon-1 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Spring interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Hermon. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the family home, 707 Coldbrook Road, Hermon, immediately after the service.
