BAR HARBOR – Adelma M. Richardson, 82, died Dec. 16, 2004, at MDI Hospital. She was born July 28, 1922, in Salisbury Cove, the daughter of Chauncy Alexander and Julia Mae (Dunton) McFarland Sr. She attended Salisbury Cove and Bar Harbor schools. Adelma worked as a bookkeeper at the Bar Harbor Banking & Trust Company and for more than 40 years at Brown Furniture Co., both in Bar Harbor. Adelma married James E. Richardson of Southwest Harbor in August of 1961 and they made their home in Bar Harbor. She was a member of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church in Bar Harbor, a past member of Altar Guild, taught Sunday school and was past president and trustee of the YWCA in Bar Harbor. Adelma is survived by her beloved husband, James E. Richardson of Bar Harbor; two sisters, Linda M. Palfrey of Bar Harbor, and Gertrude M. Butler of York; one brother, Chauncey A. McFarland Jr. of Bar Harbor; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by her youngest sister, Statie M. Foster. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Bar Harbor with Father Jonathan Appleyard officiating. Interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
