LUBEC – Agatha Marie Hood, 72, died Feb. 7, 2004, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 27, 1931, in Lubec, the daughter of Melvin and Leona (Tinker) Stanley. She grew up in Lubec, and was employed at many different jobs including the area sardine factories, Unobskey’s, and as a CNA for Ocean View Nursing Home. She will be greatly remembered for her artwork and her beautiful paintings. She also enjoyed being an art instructor for the Lubec Adult Education Program, and working as a volunteer for West Quoddy Light House. In addition to her love for art, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and animals. She was a special friend and neighbor to all. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Stacie Hood and fianc‚, Wallace Small; a brother, Sheldon Stanley and his wife, Tanya; a sister, Flora Guptill and her husband, Dennis; a sister-in-law, Virginia Stanley-Flynn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, James Hood; and a brother, Hollison (Barr) Stanley. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Lubec Christian Temple Church, with Pastor Gary Look officiating. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
