JONESPORT – Agnes Viola Grover, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Marshall Healthcare & Rehab-ilitation Center, Machias. She was born July 6, 1919. Agnes retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1965. She enlisted in the Army Air-Wac in 1943 and spent most of her service life at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. She loved her service life. Retirement was spent in Jonesport, at her family home. She loved to read and was a big part of the community, where everyone loved her. She had a big heart. In the ’70s, she and her friend, Glenna Bond Clendening, made a lot of fun camping trips travelling all over Maine, New Hampshire and Canada. Aggie will be missed by her dear friend and card-playing partner, Helen Foucher of Jonesport. Aggie became everyone’s aunt including, Melonia Stubbs and her children, Brittany and Brandon, of Ells-worth. Many thanks to Dickie and Glenda Gray for all the help and care given to Aggie over the years. Also to Marie Beal’s friendship and rides to church. Agnes had been a member of Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church, Jones-port, since 1933, while Elbert S. Emery was pastor, she was a member of Jonesport American Legion Auxillary, and many years as member and officer of Jonesport’s TOPS Club. Agnes was predeceased by her father, Issac Worden Grover; mother, Edith Smith; brothers, Harley and Osmond Grover; sisters, Alberta Yellope and Lucia Lakeman; sister-in-law, Frances Grover; brothers-in-law, Joseph Lakeman and Joseph Yellope. She is survived by her nieces, Sarah Monaghan-Houghton of Nobleboro and Martha Jane Gay of New Hampshire; nephews, Wordon Grover of Whitneyville, Michael Yellope of Oklahoma, Joseph Yellope Jr. and Thomas Yellope, both of Massachusetts, several great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be announced in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church, P.O.
