DOVER-FOXCROFT – Al E. Cooper, 65, of Olive Hill Road, formerly of Au-burn, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. He passed away peacefully at his home, with his family at his side. He was born May 25, 1942, in Lewiston, the son of Robert M. and E. May Williams Cooper. He grew up in Auburn and attended Ed Little High School, where he graduated in 1960. He was married to Mary Fisher for 47 years. Al was employed as a supervisor at Penobscot Job Corps, Bangor, where he served 25 years. He proudly served with the Maine National Guard. Al was a member of Fellowship Church, Greene, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed skeet shooting, special times spent at camp, and his family and friends, but his favorite pastime of all was motorcycle riding. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandpa. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Lori Merrifield and husband, Chet, of Steep Falls; a son, Gary Cooper and wife, Kelly, of Dover-Foxcroft; six grandchildren, Amanda and Nick Crocker, David and Cheryl Cooper, Mark and Sarah Cooper, Josh and Janet Merrifield, Jason and Amanda Merrifield, and Jonathan Merrifield; nine great-grandchildren; his mo-ther, E. May Cooper of Brunswick; two sisters, Lorraine Additon of Auburn and Christina Gauthier of Ohio; three brothers, Andrew Cooper and wife, Donna, of Lisbon Falls, David Cooper and wife, Elaine, of Auburn and Eddie Cooper and wife, Vickie, of Texas; his mother-in-law, Alice Fisher of Lewiston; three sisters-in-law, Geneva Laplante and husband, Lou, of Lewiston, Jennie Herrick and husband, Lin, of Lew-iston and Linda Thibodeau and husband, Lucien, of Auburn. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Fellowship Church, Greene.
