FARMINGTON, N.M. – Alan Duane Frank, 77, passed away peacefully Sun-day, April 15, 2007, at Four Corners Health Care Center, Durango, Colo., after a courageous struggle with cancer. Mr. Frank was born May 15, 1929, in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Albert and Emma (Verbeck) Frank. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, being awarded the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal. As a Cornell graduate, he majored in agriculture, specializing in poultry. In his early years, Alan was a farmer, and then later was employed by United Parcel Service, where he served in many capacities, retiring after 26 years to the Farmington area. Alan enjoyed traveling, exploring, meeting new people and making many friends. Being well read, his passion was discovering nature and admiring its splendor. He is known by many for his kind heart and engaging intellect, although stubborn at times. Alan spent many a time hunting, fishing and hiking with kin and friends, both from New England and the Southwest. Alan is survived by his former wife, Catherine Frank of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a brother, Merrill and wife, Sally, of Colorado; a son, Gregory and wife, Cathy, of Limestone; a granddaughter, Amanda Sovey and husband, Justin, of Fort Kent; a grandson, James of Limestone; a great-granddaughter, Morgan; a niece, Paula Frank of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and a nep-hew, Owen Frank of Elmira, N.Y.
