VAN BUREN – Albert Fongemie, 90, died Nov. 12, 2006, at a Van Buren nursing home. He was born May 5, 1916, in Cyr Plantation, the son of Xavier and Melvina (Blier) Fongemie. He was employed as a carpenter all of his life. Mr. Fongemie is survived by one son, Claude Fongemie and his wife, Lynn, of Raymond; one daughter, Shirley Fretterd and her husband, Robert, of Crestview, Fla.; two sisters, Rosella Dickinson of Van Buren and Florence Beaulieu of Seekonk, Mass.; one brother, Jules Fongemie of Bristol, Conn.; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha (Lajoie) Fongemie in 1990. Relatives and friends may call 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
