SEAL HARBOR – Albert M. “Al” Allan, 72, died Jan. 21, 2005, in Seal Harbor. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Pembrook, the son of Richard A. and Bertha E. (Bishop) Allan. Albert graduated from Gilman High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years and at that time he married Emily “Mimi” (Lambert) Allan. He worked for the Rockefeller family for 44 years, starting as a laborer and working his way to be the Superintendent of Greenrock Corp. Albert enjoyed his gardening and especially making pickles and walking in the Seal Harbor area. Albert was a former member of the Mount Desert Island Lions and the Old Timers Club of Seal Harbor. He was a member of Northeast Harbor Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Anah Shrine and V.I.S. of Seal Harbor. He also served as selectman for the Town of Mount Desert. Albert is survived by his son, Richard Allan and wife, Sharon, of Millersville, Md.; two daughters, Karen Sadler of Palmyra, and Julie Greene and husband, Buddy, of Seal Harbor; one sister, Hattie Mae Thomas of Amherst; nine grandchildren, Jayson, Meaghan and Tyler Allan, Patrick and Daniel Sadler, Melissa Goodwin and Julie Jencks and Emily and Allan Greene; and six great-grandchildren, Kayley, Kassie, Kate, Daniel, Andrew and Alexys; several nieces and nephews and by his good friend, Louine Young; and his dog, A.J. He was predeceased by his wife, Emily “Mimi” (Lambert) Allan. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, at The Union Church with the Rev. William Bigelow officiating. Spring interment will be at Seal Harbor Cemetery.
