ORONO and OLD TOWN – Alberta F. “Dee” (Fortier) Richard, 85, passed away early Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at an Orono nursing facility. She was born in Old Town April 8, 1919, daughter of the late Jules and Mary Lilia (Knapp) Fortier. Dee was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1937. She was a faithful communicant and active member of Holy Family Parish in Old Town until her illness. Dee volunteered at the Parker Dining Hall in Orono for several years. She enjoyed knitting, collecting various “gadgets” and playing cards, especially with her friends at Glenridge Apartments. She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker as it was evident in her cooking skills. Dee is survived and will be sadly missed by a son, Brian Richard and his wife, Joyce; daughter, Pamela Thibodeau and her husband, Donovan; daughter, Lynn Mountain and her husband, Stuart; son, Lee Richard and his wife, Cheryl; brother, Louis Fortier and his wife, Virginia; brother, Harold Fortier and his wife, Doris; grandchildren, Derek Hanlon, Brian Richard, Stephanie Hamlin, Renee Wright, Andrea Hastings, Rodney Mountain, Jason Richard, Cliff Richard, Robert Gilbert Jr., Jennifer Kennard, Jodie Gilbert; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Gerard E. Richard; granddaughter, Angela Richard; sisters, Madeline Fortier, Lillian Ramsey, Delores St. John, and Dorothy Fortier; brothers, Jules “Toot” Fortier, Franklin Fortier, and Kenneth Fortier A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Old Town with the Rev. Normand Richard, celebrant. Friends and family are invited to Holy Family Parish Hall for a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the mass. Burial will be private.
