ORLAND – Barbara J. (Pierce) Gray, 40, passed away Oct. 10, 2004, at her home, after an illness with cancer. She was born Aug. 17, 1964, in Castine, to Donald E. and Marilyn (Dunbar) Pierce. She was a graduate of Orland Consolidated School, Bucksport High School, and Husson College. After college she worked for nearly 20 years at International Paper Co., Bucksport. She was an active member of the community. She served at one time or another as a member of the Orland Fire Department, Orland Board of Recreation, Orland PTO, Orland School Committee, Secretary of the Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, a board member for the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Foundation, and was very active in Scouting, both Boy Scouts with Troops 82 and 102 and Girl Scouts Troop 372. She is survived by her pride and joy, her two children, Josh and Kasey Gray of Orland; two sisters, Donalyn Pierce of Orland, and Joyce Rogerson of Bucksport; one brother, Donnie Pierce and his wife, Shelley, of Ambejesus Lake; an aunt and uncle, Joanne and Clayton Pierce of Orland; nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and many wonderful cousins in the Bucksport area. She also leaves behind some very special friends, the dream team, without them it would have been unbearable. She was predeceased by a fianc?, Teddy Saunders; parents, Donald and Marilyn Pierce; grandparents, Reginald and Marian Dunbar, and Elwin and Eloise Pierce, all of Orland. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A special service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Elm St. Congregational Church, Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick and the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland. A gathering of conversation and refreshment will follow at the Verona Island Town Hall.
