ALBERTA HUMPHREY MCNALLY SANFORD – Alberta Humphrey McNally, 84, of 702 Bucks Court, Carolina Trace, died Monday, July 25, at her residence after a period of declining health. She was a descendent of one of the original families presented a land grant by William Penn in western Pennsylvania whose Studebaker relatives fought in the Revolution-ary and Civil wars. Her mother, the late Helen Marie Currie, was one of the original American Red Cross nurses who served in France during World War I. She was married to Carl Patrick McNally for 56 years before he preceded her in death in January 2003. While stationed in Europe she embarked upon her second career of teaching kindergarten and first grade students. She continued teaching at various locations around the world for more than 26 years. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Humphrey; her youngest daughter, Carleen Joan McNally and her sister, Joan Bush. She is survived by daughter, Patricia Jane McNally; her devoted caregiver for the past 10 years; her son, Frank Humphrey McNally and his wife, Minte, of Winston-Salem; and her grandchildren, Frank McNally Jr. of Arlington, Va.; and Minta Catharine McNally of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friend 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford, N.C. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30, at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Slippery Rock, Pa. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Eastern N.C.
