HOWLAND – Alden Harris of Burlington passed away Dec. 17, 2007, with his wife of 67 years by his side. He was born April 20, 1921, in Burlington, to Ernest and Evelyn (Shorey) Harris. Alden served in the U.S. Army as an engineer in Europe during World War II, before meeting the love of his life, Maxine (Fogg) Harris, who he married in 1940. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Alden spent 23 years as the manager of Nicatous Lodge and spent seven years as a maintenance worker for MSAD 31. He was also a member of several clubs and organizations in the community including the Snowmobile Club, Maine Horsemen Association, Triangle Men’s Club, Triangle Fire Department and the Escutarsis Grange. Alden was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Alden is survived by his wife, Maxine (Fogg) Harris; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Willmont Thurlow of Enfield; sister, Shirley Bailey of Farmington; sister-in-law, Helen Harris; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean and Helen Fogg; sister-in-law, Lucy Ludden; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jerrold Harris. At the family’s request there will be a graveside service in the spring.
