FORT FAIRFIELD and DUBUQUE, Iowa – Aletha M. Every, 93, wife of the late Cecil D. Emery, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday morning, Feb. 4, 2006, at a Dubuque, Iowa nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Marysville, N.B., Canada, the daughter of William W. and Elizabeth (Boyce) Moore. She attended local schools, also attended business college in Fredericton, N.B. and resided in Canada until 1936, when she was married to Cecil D. Emery Dec. 5. Mrs. Emery was involved in the Aroostook County Extension Service, was an active member of the Republican Party and a long-time member of the Community Wesleyan Church, Fort Fairfield, where she served as treasurer, board member and Sunday school teacher. She had also attended the First Presbyterian Church, Dubuque, Iowa while residing in Iowa. She and Cecil resided in Fort Fairfield until 1998, when they moved to Cramerton, N.C. In 2000, they moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where Mrs. Emery was a member of the YMCA of Dubuque. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Emery was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Oct. 4, 2001; two brothers, William E. Moore, Norman Moore; one sister, Mary White; one sister-in-law, Della Moore. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gilda and Joel Samuels of Dubuque, Iowa, Karen Emery-Estey and David Estey of Belfast; six grandchildren, Tammy Stan and her husband, Brian, Robert Gockley III and his wife, Beatrice, Ruth Ann Gockley, Rosanne Samuels-Barry and her husband, Richard, Melissa Samuels, Valerie Samuels; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Fred (Edith) Russell of Surrey, N.H., Mrs. Enoch (Carrie) Emery of Fairfield, Mrs. William (Bessie) Moore of Fredericton, N.B., Canada, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 Thursday, Feb. 9, at Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Community Wesleyan Church, 9 Wesleyan St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Dale Nason and the Rev. Wesley McNeal, officiating. A reception will follow at the church fellowship area, immediately following the funeral service. Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield later in the spring. Memorial services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the First Presbyterian Church, Dubuque, Iowa.
