BERNARD – Alfred H. Dow Sr., 66, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 15, 2004, at a Bar Harbor hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Tremont, the son of Pearl H. and Louise (Moore) Dow. Alfred retired from Hinckley Boat in Manset in 1986, where he had worked for several years as a marine painter. He will be remembered as an avid fisherman, and for his love and enjoyment of camping. Alfred is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy L. (Strout) Dow of Bernard; two children, Alfred “Bunky” Dow Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Trenton, and Becky O’Brien and her husband, Gary, of Hancock; a granddaughter, Chelsea Dow of Trenton; three brothers, Harvey Dow and his wife, Nancy, of New Jersey, Carlton Dow and his wife, Carol, of Tremont, and his twin, Phil Dow and his wife, Mary, of Bass Harbor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alfred was predeceased by a grandson, Jonathan Dow in January of 2004. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, with the Rev. Scott Records officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Alfred may be sent to the MDI Baseball Program, in honor of his grandson Jonathan, care of Wendy Littlefield, P.O. Box 180, Mount Desert, ME 04660.
