TRENTON – Alfreda G. Stanley, 86, died Dec. 15, 2004, at MDI Hospital. She was born April 25, 1918, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Adfer and Helen (Hanscom) Strout. Alfreda’s greatest joy in life was serving the Lord and serving her family. She was church organist for Church of Our Father in Hulls Cove for more than 60 years, a position she filled with dedication and enthusiasm. Alfreda worked for Dr. Weymouth and Dr. Cooper at Medical Associates in Bar Harbor for many years. She enjoyed knitting and cooking and driving to Augusta in snowstorms. Alfreda was a devoted member of Church of Our Father; president and member of ECW; treasurer of the United Thank Offering and she served in various other capacities in the church. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, James Stanley; one son, Gary Stanley and his wife, Kathy of Lamoine; one daughter, Gail Leland and her husband, Carroll of Bar Harbor; one brother, Alvah Strout and his wife, Alberta, of Salisbury Cove; two sisters, Claire Nickerson of Vassalboro and Louise Manza and her husband, Francis of Lilburn, Ga.; six grandchildren, Tyler, Maggie and Emma Stanley, Chris, David and Mary Leland. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Church of Our Father, Hulls Cove. A celebration of Alfreda’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Charles Bradshaw officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service. Interment will be at Leland Cemetery, Trenton.
