EAGLE LAKE and ASHLAND Alice Belanger, 92, died Tuesday night, April 20, 2004, at the Eagle Lake Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Wallagrass, the daughter of Damase and Marie Michaud. Alice worked as a housekeeper and cook for the Catholic rectories in Wallagrass and Ellsworth. She loved to knit, and always provided many mittens, socks, and scarves to her family and to the church fundraisers. Alice was active in the Solidarity Club and the Ladies of St. Ann. She is survived by two sons, Gerard Belanger of Hudson, N.H., Richard Belanger of Sanford; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Belanger of Portage; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Yvon Belanger in 1945; two sons, Roderick and Reynold Belanger; two brothers, Ulysse and George Michaud; three sisters, Helen Carmody, Margaret Johnson, and Grace Pinette. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Mower officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Wallagrass later this spring. Donations may be made in her memory to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Portage, ME O4768.
