EDMUNDS – Alice E. (Hallowell) Dudley, 82, died Feb. 27, 2007, at a Calais nursing home after a long illness. She was born April 19, 1924, in South Thomaston, the daughter of Alton and Rachel (Benner) Hallowell. Alice enjoyed knitting, braid-ing rugs and playing bingo in her spare time. Alice worked in local sardine factories, wreath shops, and in later years, was bookkeeper at Hallowell’s Lumber, that was owned and operated by her father. She was predeceased by her husband, Harlan Dudley; her parents; and her brother, John. Survivors include her daughters, Priscilla Beedy of Wilton and Rene Lincoln and husband, Gary, of Edmunds; five granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Hallowell of Edmunds and Baileyville, and Richard Hallowell of Edmunds; and three sisters-in-law. Alice also leaves behind a very special cousin, Calista Longhurst of Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Alice’s request, there will be no funeral service. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the Dennysville Ambulance Service, 1935 U.S. Route 1, Edmunds Twp., ME 04628.
