PRESQUE ISLE and CALAIS Alice E. Murdock, 103, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at her home in Presque Isle. Alice was born in Farmingdale, daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Newell) Manson. She was employed as a third grade teacher for Topsham and Calais public sch-ools, for more than 40 years. Alice was very active with Calais Regional Hospital, until her mid-90s. She was a member of Orion Chapter No. 45 Order of Eastern Star, Maine Teachers Association and the First Congregational Church, Calais. Alice was predeceased by her husband, William N. Murdock; her daughter, Edith Malloch; her son, Ralph M. Rhoades; a sister, Irene Allen; and a brother, George Manson. Surviving are four grandchildren, Mary Lynn Malloch of Lewes, Del., Alice Marie Malloch of Presque Isle, Ralph W. Rhoades of Cleburne, Texas, and Pamela Rhoades of Austin, Texas; one great-grandson, Buddy Rhoades of Maryland; a son-in-law, Gerald Malloch of Presque Isle; a niece, Jane Rogers of Myerstown, Pa.; and several cousins. At Alice’s request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Red Beach Cemetery, Calais.
