PRESQUE ISLE – Alice Lee (McHugh) Condon, 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at Pine Point Nursing Home in Scarborough. She was born March 28, 1923, to Mary (Haley) and Charles McHugh of Presque Isle. She was a life-long resident of Presque Isle before moving to southern Maine in 2003. Alice graduated from Presque Isle High School and the University of Maine in 1944 with a degree in education. She taught first grade for 25 years in the Presque Isle school system, retiring in 1985. In 1946, Alice married Keith Preble Condon. Alice was active in the Aroostook Union Grange, the U.M.P.I. Alumni Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She looked forward to Thursdays with her “lunch bunch” and her friends at “Tammy’s”. Alice loved to travel with friends and family, tell stories, play cards, cook and was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her love of life, infectious laughter, sense of humor, her love, commitment, and generosity to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by daughters, Patricia Condon of Mapleton, Pamela McAlinden and husband, Ed, of Acton, Kathy Condon of South Portland; a son, Charles Condon and his wife, Mary, of Brewer. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grand-children. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Manchester of Machias and Clarice McCabe of South Amboy, N.J. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith; her parents; and brothers, Arden, John, and Clarence McHugh. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle with the Rev. Ray Morency celebrant. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. A reception will be held for family and friends at the K of C Hall behind the church. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make a donation in Alice’s memory to St. Mary’s Scholarship Fund, in care of Cookie Allen, P.O. Box 813, Presque Isle, ME 04769 or to Pine Point Residence Council, 67 Pine Point Rd., Scarborough, ME 04074. There will also be a Celebration of Life at Pine Point Nursing Center, 67 Pine Point Rd., Scarborough at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
