ORRINGTON – Alice M. (Goss) Brown, 96, wife of the late Herbert N. Brown, died Nov. 15, 2003, at her home in Orrington surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 20, 1907, in Orrington, the daughter of Ora and Sadie Ethel (Albee) Goss. Alice was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Orrington where she volunteered many hours of her time. She was also a member and Past Noble Grand of Vashti Rebekah Lodge No. 35, Orrington and was a member of the Orrington Garden Club. Alice was a dedicated wife for 74 years, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surviving are five children, Helen B. Dunham and her husband, Harland, of Ellsworth, Marie Honey and her husband, Earle, of Hartland, Philip N. Brown of Orrington, Noel M. Brown and his wife, Doris, of El Paso, Texas, and Janet Eirish and her husband, William, of Aurora, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Gerow of Bangor and Bessie Frost of Orono; one brother, Lester Goss of Largo, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Newell G. Brown in 1934. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church, Center Drive, Orrington with the Rev. Richard Noyes, pastor, officiating.
