ORNEVILLE – Allen J. Brackett, 57, husband of Marie A. (Maguire) Brackett, died June 7, 2006, at his residence. He was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Old Town, the son of Thale W. and Barbara (Goodine) Brackett. Allen was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 and served in the Infantry with the 101st Airborne, served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 in the 25th Infantry; Allen received numerous medals, including the Bronze Star for valor. Allen worked for the civil service of the Army in Colorado Springs, Colo., as a diesel mechanic for a total of 18 years. He returned to Maine and continued doing mechanic work for himself and various companies, until he became disabled. He loved spending time with family and friends, and he especially enjoyed NASCAR. Allen will always be remembered for his humorous attitude and carefree ways. He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, David Maguire and wife, Laura, of Milo; stepdaughters, Donna Bonilla and husband, Edwin, of Baton Rouge, La., Terri Brasslett of Milo; three brothers, John and wife, Glenda, of Bradford, Richard and wife, Elouise, of LaGrange, Reagan “Joe” and wife, Janie, of LaGrange; three sisters, Janet Armstrong and husband, Fred, of Millinocket, Jean Marie Armstrong and husband, Dana, of LaGrange, Barbara Collins and husband, Roger, of Hudson; nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered and missed by his brother-in-law, Steve Young of Bradford. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thale, Gerald, and Frank; and a sister, Muriel Turtlott. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, with the Rev. Heather Kurtz officiating.
