BELFAST – Alma “Arnie” C. Merrithew, 76, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Bangor, June 13, 1929, the daughter of Kelley and Alta (Baker) Crosskill. Alma grew up in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School. After graduating from Husson College, she moved to Belfast and worked at the Gov. Anderson School before becoming a teller at Bangor Savings Bank. She enjoyed camping, sitting by the waterfront and used to go boating with her husband. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Ronald Merrithew. Alma is survived by her son, Larry Merrithew and his wife, Annette, of Newport; two sisters, Estelle Rossetti of Ontario, Canada, and Eleanor Fuller of Hallowell; a grandson, Adam Merrithew of Bangor; two stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Mason and Roger Windsor; four great-stepgrandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nettie LaFontaine of Northport; a special friend, Bert Perkins of Belfast; and a close friend, Virginia Morang of Belmont. There will be a casual gathering of family and friends 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at her home, 61 Wight St, Belfast.
