BANGOR – Almon Tilley, 57, died April 14, 2007, in Howland. He lived well beyond his life expectancy, but finally succumbed to congenital lung and heart conditions. He was born, Aug. 31, 1949, in Caribou. Almon thoroughly enjoyed and participated in life, with little regard to physical disabilities. Whether it be bowling, horseback riding, Special Olympics, the Bangor State Fair, summer ocean trips, WWF matches, movies or just the mall, he loved being out and about and made friends wherever he went. No one was a stranger for long. Almon is survived by his loving life partner of 28 years, Judy Bean. He will be fondly remembered and missed by Judy’s family, Albert and Emily, Elizabeth and Peter, Dorothy and Bill, John and Ian, David, Diane and Breanna; and by many friends, including good friend, John Rose. Almon lived his early life in Pineland. Despite growing up apart from his immediate family, and despite many miles of distance between them, Almon and his family managed to stay in touch, and Almon treasured visits, phone calls and correspondence between them, and often spoke of his siblings Junior, Winslow, Gerald, Joyce and Gloria; and of his niece, Tabitha. Service 3 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Hammond Street Congregational Church, in the large vestry.
