CASWELL – Alphonse J. Lavoie, 85, died Jan. 7, 2004, at Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. He was born in Caswell, May 17, 1918, the son of Joseph and Melvina (Fisher) Lavoie. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving 10 months in Europe. Mr. Lavoie was employed at the former Loring Air Force Base and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Adelia (Ouellette) Lavoie of Caribou; three daughters, Lisa Lavoie of Houlton, Marcelle Lavoie of Manchester, Conn., Lynne Lavoie and her husband, Maxwell McCormack, of Deer Isle; two sons, Roger Lavoie and his wife, Nancy, of Houlton; Kenneth Lavoie and his wife, Jody, of Dover-Foxcroft; one brother, Adrien Lavoie of New Britain, Conn.; one sister, Irene Jalbert of Caribou; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Raymond Lavoie in 1991, Maurice Lavoie in 1950; and by a daughter, Sylvie Anne Lavoie in 1953. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and 12 noon until time of service on Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
