CARIBOU – Alsime “Sam” Joseph Martin, 76, died Oct. 6, 2003, at his son’s residence in Hermon. He was born May 12, 1927, in Stockholm, the son of Victor Joseph and Sadie (Chamberlain) Martin. Sam was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a great provider for his family and loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anita (Cunningham) Martin, of Caribou; two sons, Michael J. Martin and wife, Katherine, of Hermon, Jeff Martin and wife, Susan, of Swanville; a daughter, Lori A. Bourgoine and husband, Joseph, of New Sweden; brothers and sisters, Roland Martin and Marianne, of Burbank, Calif., Reona Porter and Arnold, of Patten, Allen Martin, of Guerette, Viola Caron, of Fort Kent, Victor “Junior” Martin and Eleanor, of Newington, Conn., Milton Martin, Clinton Martin and Leona, and Arlene Martin, all of Bristol, Conn., and Ronald Martin, of Caribou; grandchildren, Barry Martin and wife, Wendy, Tammy Tozer and husband, Jason, Aaron Martin and wife, Rebecca, Jennifer Sauter and husband, Carl, Katherine Martin, Jeremiah Martin, Sara Martin, Luke Martin, Zachariah Martin, Makaila Bourgoine and Seph Bourgoine; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Bailey Martin, Jacob and Sydney Tozer, Micah and Marcus Martin; a cherished niece, Sandra Clavette and husband, Russell; and lifelong friends, Russell and Midge Howe. He was predeceased by a son, Gary C. Martin; a brother, Walter Martin; and a sister, Cecile Peterson. A Service of Remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the United Baptist Church, Caribou, with his son, Rev. Jeff Martin, officiating.
