DOVER-FOXCROFT – Alson D. “Butch” Coffin Jr., husband of Ranee (Lewis) Coffin, went to be with his heavenly father, Sept. 4, 2007, at a Bangor hospital, after a long illness. He was born July 26, 1944, in Bangor, the son of the late Alson D. and Sadie (Sanborn) Coffin. Butch was educated in the Old Town school system. He was a jack-of-all trades and throughout the years drove for Bangor and local taxi companies, cooked in local restaurants, and in the most recent years, he was not only a client of the Charlotte White Center, he was an employee. He loved selling tickets for and participating in the Special Olympics and working with a special friend, Georgie, at the Charlotte White Center’s Elders Program. Butch had a sense of humor, which made him very special. No matter how sick he might be, he would always say, “I still have some kick in me.” He was a kind and gentle man. Butch is survived by his wife, special friend and soul mate, Ranee of Dover-Foxcroft; three brothers, Joe Coffin and his wife, Betty, of Orrington, Sam Coffin of California, and Craig Coffin and his wife, Della, of Michigan; three sisters, Berl Doucette, Alice Chesley, and Linda Gilks, all of Old Town; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Steven Coffin;and a sister, Debbie McMann. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Dover-Foxcroft United Baptist Church. All are invited to a reception after the service at the church.
