WINTERPORT – Alston L. Kervin, 90, husband of Pauline (Tower) Kervin, passed away peacefully, Jan. 12, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born in Linneus, July 26, 1914, the son of Douglas and Mary (Dawson) Kervin. Al lived in Linneus for many years and was a 57-year member of Monument Masonic Lodge No. 96 A.F. & A.M. of Houlton. He and Pauline moved to Winterport where they lived for many years, and for the past 29 years attended the Church of The Open Door in Hampden. Al was a master craftsman and building contractor for most of his life. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his ethics, as being true man of faith and as a wonderful example of a loving, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pauline of Winterport; two sons, Rodney and his wife, Annette of Robins, Iowa, and Michael and his wife, Andrea of Hampden; two sisters, Wrena Barton of Massachusetts, and Marjorie Quirion of Florida; four grandchildren, Kristie, Matthew, Sean and Kimberly; three great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Michael and Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; by four brothers; Gerald, Walter, Ralph and Harold; and by three sisters; Edith, Ruth and Beatrice. A funeral service will be held, 11 a.m. Monday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Mark L. Fowler, pastor of the Church of The Open Door, officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to the Ronald MacDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401 or to a charity of one’s choice. Interment in the springtime will be in Hodgdon Cemetery, Hodgdon.
