ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Alta Huntley, 92, died July 5, 2008, at Gulfside Regional Hospice, Dade City, Fla. She was born Oct. 3, 1915, in Sherman Mills, the daughter of Wilber and Ruby (Buzzel) O’Roak. Alta was a 1935 graduate of Sherman High School. She worked at W. T. Grant Co., for many years. She was a resident of Zephyrhills, Fla., for more than 25 years. She was predeceased by three husbands, Francis Butler, Fred “Ted” Wentworth and Harold Huntley; three sisters, Amy O’Roak, Ethel O’Roak and Mavis Zickefoose; and three brothers, Jerry O’Roak, Merle O’Roak and Dale O’Roak. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl McLaughlin of Waldoboro and Janice Kilburn of Damariscotta; one stepdaughter, Sandra Birmingham of West Winfield, N.Y.; and three stepsons, Ronald Huntley, Richard Huntley, both of West Winfield, N.Y., and James Butler of Upton, Mass.; five grandchildren, David Russell, Kimberly Russell, John Murphy, David Murphy and Matthew Bowley; 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Sherman Mills Cemetery at an undetermined date.
