EAST MILLINOCKET – Alton L. (Ackie) Dishon, 72, passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at a Bangor hos-pital. He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Drew Plantation, the son of Edward and Norma (Chambers) Dishon. He lived a very full life. Ackie worked for Great Northern Paper Company, for the town of East Millinocket, and later was in business for himself, owning Ackie’s Pool Hall for a few years, retiring in 1977. He was a chartered member of the Bernard Lewis Coro D.A.V. in Medway, a life member of the American Legion in East Millinocket, the VFW in Millinocket, and the Elks of Millinocket. He was in the Korean War and was one of the Chosen Few who received the Purple Heart during that time. Ackie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anna (Bishop) Dishon; his two daughters, Belinda and her husband, Carl Stanley, and Pam Rossignol, both of Medway; four grandchildren, Carla Stanley and her companion, Frank Dow, Sr., Shannon and her husband, Jim Fitzsimmons, Nicholas and his wife, Jennifer Rossignol, and Kasey Rossignol; one very special great- grandson, Frankie; three step great-grandchildren, Kayla, Michael, and Laura Noddin; one brother, Robert Dishon of East Millinocket; one special brother-in-law, William Burke of Millinocket; one very special niece, Fayette Austin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Conrad Dishon, Edward Dishon, Arlene Burke, and Gladys Austin, and a special son-in-law, David Rossignol. Ackie was very active in the DAV and bingo. He thoroughly loved the people at bingo. “Girls you gotta buy your own Tootsie pops.” Friends may call at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Millinocket. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
