OLD TOWN and MEXICO – Ameila B. Monk, 97, wife of the late Floyd Monk, died peacefully May 4, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 16, 1908, in Bradley, a daughter of Paul and Mary Ellen (Murphy) Thibodeau. She attended area schools and was employed in local shoe shops and the rubber factory. She enjoyed reminiscing with friends, playing cribbage and shopping. She also loved to picnic at the camp on Roxbury Pond with the many family and friends that visited and she loved cats. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Howe of Old Town, Virginia O’Leary of Mexico, Maine and Josephine Durant and her husband, William, of Billerica, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grand-children, 26 great-great-grand-children, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Floyd; seven brothers and sisters; two sons-in-law, Ivus O’Leary and Stanley Howe; and two great-grandsons, Matthew Harkness and David Howe. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
