CARY and EAST GRANBY, Conn. – Andrew J. Wilcox, 59, died April 30, 2008, at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born Feb. 25, 1949, Houlton, he was the son of Ralph and Leona (Stitham) Wilcox. He attended schools in Cary and Hodgdon. Upon completion of his education, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Connecticut and began his career in construction. He was the owner of H-H Trucking Co. Andrew enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family on their farm in Cary. Andrew leaves his wife of 23 years, Heather (Hatfield) Wilcox; and his beloved children, Heidi, Ryan and Ross Wilcox. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by five brothers, two sisters and their spouses, Gerald Wilcox Sr. and Betty of South Windsor, Conn., Darrell Wilcox Sr. and Cathy of Tolland, Conn., David Wilcox Sr. and Donna of Windsor, Conn., Richard Wilcox and Pat of South Carolina, Alfred Wilcox of Windsor, Conn., Mary Allen and Gove of Arizona, and Arlene Scoville of Newington, Conn.; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Wilcox; and sister, Louise Powers. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Cary Baptist Church with the Rev. Peter Valji officiating. Interment will be at Wilcox Cemetery, Cary.
