PRESQUE ISLE – Angus Blair, 78, died March 14, 2005, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1926, in St. John, Maine, the son of Onezime and Amanda (Pelletier) Blair. Angus served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart Medal during the Battle of the Bulge. He had been employed at Grafton Lumber in Ashland for 12 years, nine years for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad and then Potato Service for 12 years. Singing country music, playing his guitar and picking fiddleheads gave him many hours of enjoyment. He was a member of Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599 VFW, Ray Goding Post No. 88 American Legion and the D.A.V. Surviving him is his wife of more than 57 years, Avril E. (Colbath) Blair of Presque Isle; five daughters, Marjorie McPherson of Presque Isle, Virginia Berpee of Smyrna Mills, Brenda Wentworth and Karen York both of Ashland and Wendy Hunt of Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Worblew and Bridget Workies both of West Haven, Conn. He was predeceased by two sons, Rodney Angus and Norman Philip Blair; a grandson, Mark Angus Blair; brothers, Carroll, Roland, Aurelle, Reginald, Raynold, and his twin, August; and two sisters, Bernice and Loretta. Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Military committal services will be held later in the spring at the Veterans Section of the Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
