MARSHFIELD and MACHIAS Anita Faye Haskell Heilsberg, 85, died April 4, 2008, surroun-ded by members of her loving family after a six-year struggle with Alzheimer’s, at Marshall Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Anita was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Ellsworth, to Alta and Henry Haskell. After her father’s death when she was four, her mother married Clarence Brockway, who helped raise her and her two sisters. While growing up, Anita worked at her parents’ tourist cabin and tea room business in Stockton Springs. In 1940, she graduated from Stockton Springs High School and then attended Bangor Maine School of Commerce, where she was considered a “demon” on the typewriter keys. She left college to go to Washington, D.C., and work in the war department during World War II. It was in Washington, D.C., that she met her future husband, Carl Heilsberg. They were married April 22, 1944, during cherry blossom time. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, they relocated back to Stockton Springs. They moved various times around the state residing in Blue Hill, Waterville, Old Town, Brewer and in the Aroostook towns of Ashland, Garfield, New Sweden and Woodland. In 1977, they built their retirement home in Marshfield. In addition to being a homemaker, Anita worked in the office at Harris Bakery, Waterville, later at Keegan and Lown, Bangor, as well as a teachers aide in both Ashland and Woodland. Anita became a member of Marshfield Congregational Church, in 1989. Anita is survived by her hus-band of 64 years, Carl; her three daughters, Carol of Port-land, Janette Lynds of Anson and Lyneta Lewia of Wilton; three grandchildren, James Lynds, Ashley and Adam Lewia; and nephews, Mark and David Smalley and their families. She is looking forward to seeing those in her family who have entered heaven before her, including her mother, Alta; father, Henry; stepfather, Clarence; her sister, Olive and husband, Donald Smalley; brother-in-law, Richard Nickerson; and her nephew, Reed Smalley. Her family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Marshall’s for all the loving kindness shown to Anita and her family while she was there. A celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Marshfield Congregational Church. If desired, donations may be made to the church in Anita’s memory.
