EAST MILLINOCKET – Anna D. (McKeon) Tanous, 75, was called home to the Lord, with her smiling, blue Irish-eyes, Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, surrounded by her family at Millinocket Regional Hospital. Anna lived a long, very blessed life with her husband, Wakine Tanous Sr.; and her seven children. She was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Portland, the youngest of nine children to Isabella (Leonard) and Bernard McKeon. She graduated from Portland High School and went on to work in the Portland area at Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., and Mercy Hospital. She then met Wakine G. Tanous, who was a Portland Law School student. They were married Feb. 5, 1955, and soon relocated to East Millinocket, were they raised their seven loving children. Anna was an active member of the East Millinocket community, where she was a life-long communicant of St. Peters Parish, a member of the Daugh-ters of Isabella, St. Ann’s Circle and the local Sorority, as well as being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was also a member of the local Pitch Club, the Millinocket Players and had completed a CNA course, and worked as an in-home health aide for several years. She spent 47 wonderful summers at Cold Stream Pond, Enfield, with family and friends, and the past 12 winters at St. Aug-ustine Beach, Fla., where she made many new friendships. Anna had a love of people, baking, cooking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, theater, musicals and old movies. She was a voracious reader. She enjoyed traveling, which included visiting many parts of the world, as well as listening to her Irish music. Most of all, she loved her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and sisters, The-resa Manette, Mary Lamauro and Agnes Valeriani and her husband, Harry; brothers, Paul McKeon and his wife, Vivian, and Thomas McKeon; her sisters-in-law, Camilla McKeon and Evangeline Tanous; and brothers-in-law, Alexander Tanous, Nolan Tanous, Nagel Tanous, David Tanous and Charles Tanous. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wakine G. Tanous; her children, Gregory Tanous and his companion, Sharon Pelletier, of Millinocket, Arlene Tanous-McCracken and her husband, Lance, of South Port-land, Theresa Rodriguez and her husband, Ray, of Skowhegan, Nolan Tanous and his wife, Carol, of East Millinocket, Alice Kelley and her husband, Joe, of South Portland, Wakine Tanous Jr. of East Millinocket and Peter Tanous and his wife, Deborah, of Gorham; her beloved grandchildren, Sara Boutaugh, Nicole Tanous, Nicholas Tanous, Chris Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Taryn McCracken, Haley McCracken, Eric Kelley, Casey Kelley, Taylor Tanous, Derrick Tanous, Natalie Tanous, Thomas Petty, Matthew Petty and Grace Petty; her sister, Ella McKeon of South Portland; brothers, Joe McKeon of Portland and Ed McKeon and his wife, Carol, of Hampden; brothers-in-law, Joe Tanous of Hingham, Mass., Thomas Tanous and his wife, Esther, of Wenham, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Tanous of North Turner and Marcia Farr of Portland; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, god children and many dear friends. Family and friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a Rosary service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Daughters of Isa-bella, St. Ann’s Circle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, presider. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
