OLD TOWN – Anna M. Griffith, 91, died peacefully June 30, 2004, at a local healthcare facility after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 21, 1912, in Great Works (Old Town), a daughter of Nelson and Lena (Kellett) Griffith. Anna graduated from Old Town High School in 1931. She was employed at the University of Maine Bookstore until her retirement in 1975. She lived in Great Works until 1989 at which time she moved to Milford where she resided until her death. Following her retirement, she enjoyed many nice trips and working outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens. She spent many hours visiting and chatting with her friends. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Old Town and St. Ann’s Church in Bradley, where she was an active member of St. Cecelia’s Circle No. 428, Daughters of Isabella where she held offices for many years. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Bernice; two brothers, John and Harold; a sister-in-law, Pauline; and a niece, Pamela Blouin. She is survived by a niece, Patricia Young of Sanford; a nephew, David Griffith of Ludlow, Mass.; three cousins, Elaine Bouchard of Milford, Avis Manship of Brewer, Helen Hart of Millsboro, Pa.; many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where members of the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley, with the Rev. Paul Kerns, celebrant. Immediately following the Mass all are invited to a luncheon downstairs in the church fellowship hall. Private graveside services will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
