BRADFORD – Anna M. Pelton, 77, died April 8, 2006, at a Bangor nursing home. She was born Sept. 1, 1928, at Bellows Falls, Vt., a daughter of Melvin and Mary (Knowlton) Noyes. She attended grade school in Saxton’s River and graduated in 1947 from Bellows Falls High School. On July 19, 1947, she married Bernard Pelton. In 1972, they moved to Bradford. Ann’s employment in Maine included, private secretary to the president, Eastern Maine Medical Center; secretary to the vice-president, Husson College; and secretary at the law office of Paul Dillon in Corinth, retiring in 1999 due to lung cancer. She and her husband were baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bellows Falls, Vt., July 14, 1951. She did many beautiful chalk drawings for evangelistic meetings. Ann was a very active church worker, which included volunteer missionary work, Sabbath School superintendent, and head elder of the Dexter church for 17 years. For many years she was on the executive committee in the Northern New England Conference office in Portland, deciding issues for all the Adventist churches in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. She was an excellent speaker, sometimes substituting for the regular pastors as far away as Bennington and Rutland, Vt. She enjoyed making ceramics and riding motorcycles. An excellent seamstress, Ann made all her own clothes most of her life which included her own winter coats and snow suits for her sons. She is survived by her husband, Bernard of Bradford; two sons, Dan and wife, Jeanette Pelton, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Hugh Pelton of Bangor; a brother, Arnold Noyes of Saxton’s River, Vt.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at the Dexter Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Al Cyr officiating. Spring burial will be in the Williams Cemetery in Bradford.
