EAST WINN – Anna M. (Skidgell) Gifford of East Winn since 1936, passed away peacefully July 19, 2007, in her sleep of natural causes, while visiting her daughter-in-law in Wesley. She was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Stockholm, and was predeceased by her parents Benjamin and Cathrine (Taylor) Skidgell. Anna was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, and was much loved by her family and friends. She attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Winn. She worked many years at Forster’s Manufacturing, Mattawamkeag, and also did seasonal work for many area farmers. She loved to knit and in addition to keeping her family warm, she donated mittens to some area schools. She loved puzzles and books of all kinds. She also enjoyed supporting the DAV and Paralyzed American Veterans’. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dean W. Gifford of East Winn; her son, Guy Gilbert Gifford of Wesley; daughter-in-law, Donna Gifford of East Winn; also four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by two sons, Alvin “Buzzy” Gifford of East Winn and Patrick A. Gifford and Kim of Pinellas Park, Fla.; one daughter, Kathryn E. Voisine and Donald Arsenault of Hampden; and a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Gifford of Wesley; 12 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 22 great-grand-children, two great-stepgrandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren; also one sister, Katie of Lynn, Mass., many nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service 1:15 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at East Winn Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Carolyn Metzler.
