MACHIAS – Virginia B. Grant, 93, passed away July 21, 2007, after an extended illness. She was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Columbia Falls, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Clara (Hartford) Grant. She graduated from Machias High School in 1935. Virginia worked most of her life as a domestic and later in life as a senior companion, caring for people. She was a very good pianist and would use those skills to teach people how to play. She is survived by her nieces, Madeline Carpenter of Milford and Eleanor Geel of Bar Harbor; nephews, Clifford Grant of Columbia, Clyde Grant of Gorham, Lesley Grant and Richard H. Grant of Columbia Falls. She was predeceased by three brothers, Percy, Hugh and Horace Grant; and one sister, Phyllis Buzzell. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Columbia Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jeremy Towne.
