BROOKS and NAPLES, Fla. – Annabelle Hatch Nulty passed away Feb. 27, 2005, from complications of retroperitoneal fibrosis. Annabelle was born Jan. 13, 1924 in Abbot, the daughter of Joan and William Harmon. She attended schools in Abbot and Guilford, and she graduated from Deering High School in Portland. The family moved to Belfast in 1941. In 1942, Ann married Malcolm Hatch, of Belfast. She is survived by their three children, Peter Hatch of Tennessee, Jon Hatch, and Libby Moore, both of Florida. During the years of their marriage, they lived in Rutland, Vt., Cumberland, R.I., and Rumford, R.I. The marriage ended in divorce. Ann returned to Belfast and later bought her home in Brooks. The house, an early Cape, was lovingly restored and during the years, Ann’s flower garden became her joy. In 1987, Ann met Lawrence F. Nulty, a soon to be retired Boston architect. They were together 15 years before September 2002, when they were quietly married in their Brooks home. They wintered in Naples, Fla. Together they enjoyed a life of shared interests, a love of art, antiques, regular trips to the Belfast library, and gourmet meals with family and friends. In addition to her husband, Larry, Ann is also survived by son-in-law, Brooks Moore; granddaughter, Caitlin and her husband, Brad Sund; grandson, Joshua Moore; great-granddaughter, Sophia Ann Moore; three sisters, Kathryn Harmon of Belfast, Elise King of Swanville and Mary Becker of Swanville and Baltimore, Md. Annabelles quiet beauty and inner strength will be remembered by all who loved her. A memorial service will be held this summer on a date to be arranged.
