MILBRIDGE – Annie R. Eldridge, 91, died Sept. 8, 2004. She was born Feb. 23, 1913, in Warren, the daughter of the late George W. and Mary (Russell) Starrett. Annie married Waino Lehto on Sept. 4, 1937. He passed away on May 18, 1963. On Sept. 16, 1972, Annie married D. Burton Eldridge, who died on April 11, 1997. Annie worked many years as an accountant. She was a member of the Milbridge Congregational Church. She loved her gardens and enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed knitting, canning, pickling, making jellies and jams and doing crossword puzzles. One year Annie knit over one hundred pairs of mittens for children who needed them. She is survived by her son, George E. Lehto and his fianc?, Linda Stuart; daughter, Grace Lehto and her husband, Jon Empey; grandchildren, Andrew Lehto and his wife, Nisa Smiley and Charles Lehto; and two great-grandchildren, Naaki and Theron Lehto, the daughter and son of Andrew. She was predeceased by a son, Carl Lehto, and a grandson, Billy (Carl William, Jr.). Annie was very much loved and admired. She will greatly missed. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at the Milbridge Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 10 Bridge St., Milbridge, officiated by Rev. Joyce Ingrisano.
