MARS HILL – Doris S. Beem, 88, died Sept. 8, 2004, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Bridgewater, the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Cookson) Jamison. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mars Hill. She graduated and was valedictorian of Bridgewater Classical Academy. Mrs. Beem was a member and Past Grand Noble of Eastern star and a member of Zephyr Rebekah Lodge in Easton. She was employed at the Presque Isle and Mars Hill Library. Mrs. Beem was an advocate for the elderly. She is survived by two sons, Richard Beem of Limestone and Brian Beem and his wife, Beverly, of Taylors, S.C.; grandchildren, Barbara Tienen, Jodie Beem; great-grand-children, Michael, Emily, Christi and Anne; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Charles Beem, Nov. 13, 1977; two brothers, Jack Jamison and Lloyd Jamieson; two sisters, Freda Harrington and Edith Jamison. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Sanborn Cemetery in Blaine, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
