EASTPORT – Archer G. Flagg, 95, passed away April 22, 2005, at a Calais hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1909, in Eastport, the son of William G. and Ada (Powell) Flagg. He graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1926. After graduation, he worked for Beale’s Insurance Inc. and after many years, he purchased the business. He also worked for the Eastport Savings Bank, later merging with the Bangor Savings Bank, and retired from banking in 1977. He was a member of the Eastern Lodge No. 7 AF & AM since 1931, and a former member of Crescent Chapter No. 26 Royal Arch Masons. He was predeceased by his wife, Phylis (Wilder) Flagg; a sister, Corinne (Flagg) Anderson and her husband, William and their son, Charles; and a brother, Philip Q. Flagg. He is survived by a daughter, Joan Flagg; a brother, William R. Flagg; four nephews, William R. Flagg Jr., Allan D. Flagg, Richard P. Flagg, William C. Anderson Jr.; and several cousins. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the Flagg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at the funeral home, with Pastor Robert Hinton officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
