CALAIS – Archie T. Mitchell, 92, died Dec. 14, 2003, at a Calais health care facility. Born Nov. 26, 1911, in Calais, the son of Thomas and Annie (Nixon) Mitchell. He was a World War II Army veteran. Archie was a life member of the Boyd-Smith Post No. 9779 VFW. Until his retirement he was employed for many years by the Dead River Oil Company of Calais. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel (Seeley) Mitchell; a grandson and one great-granddaughter. Surviving are his daughter, Edith A. Colson and her husband, Ken, of Calais; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with full military honors will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Calais Cemetery with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Calais or Baring Baptist Church. Following services relatives and friends are invited for a gathering at 51 King St. in Milltown. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
